Re: Help ! Siezed Lofrans Royal Windlass

The ratchet mechanism is formed between parts 496 and 492, with the spring to hold the two parts together, but allows them to sperate as you push the handle forward.
Good luck, pictures if possible of the dis-assembly would be useful for future generations

Good luck with the repair. Once you get it apart it is not that difficult.

Re: Help! Siezed Lofrans Royal Windlass

Hi - uploaded the picture of the parts that caused me so much grief. They are positioned in same order (save the housing) as on the Royal assy diagram.
So, from left to right: 498 -plastic sleeve, 499 -bevel gear, 255 - aluminum key, 491 -plastic sleeve, 500 -circlip, ?? -plastic spacer rings, 506 -emergency wheel. Spacer rings are not shown on the diagram.

Thank you all for your invaluable insights on the subject. It was a great experience for me.
