I was in my
anchor locker today to
scope out a location for a solent stay reinforcement when I noticed that the cut-out for the hawsepipe has exposed
core all the way around. I'm not sure if it was once sealed, and worn away by chain going in and out, or if it was never sealed at all.
In any case, I want to seal this abomination. My thought (via Don Casey) was to dig out the
core all around the fitting, and fill it with
epoxy loaded with colloidal silica.
Is this the right prescription?
