HARKEN MK 2 Question

Just re-launched after a haul out. During the travel lifting it was necessary to disconnect both head stay (bowsprit issue), and staysail stay in order to clear the lift truck beam. Everything went well and we are now back in the water, dockside.

It seems that the fitting on the furler now will not reach the deck fitting on either stay. The back stays have been slacked as well as the running back stays. Still I have about 1/2" gap or so between both the deck fittings and drum toggles.

If I removed the torque housing, and the lower nut and star washer under each drum and let them fall, would turning the drum, while holding the stay, lengthen the stay enough or at all, to reach the deck fitting? Looking for the book but have not found it yet. Been awhile since I have had to monkey with the furlers.

Greatfull for any input or suggestions.

Re: HARKEN MK 2 Question

Once had this problem on a 26 footer. Top shackle was half a turn out of alignment. Got it all in line and suddenly it all fitted.
