Harken 53 electric winch

I have a set of Harken 53 electric winches on my boat. The boat was built in 1995.

I’m trying to find a manual for these winch’s but everything I try refers me back to the manual section of the Harken website and harken doesn’t provide manuals for older products.

Specifically they are Harken 53.2 stc’s.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely, Steve

Like newer models, there is a center pin that when depressed by inserting a winch handle deactivates the motor.

The problem I’m having is that I can’t lock the winch handle into the top of the winch. I suspect that the center pin, which is spring loaded is not compressing fully enough to allow the winch handle to lock in place.

Any thoughts, insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Steve

Re: Harken 53 electric winch

How about disassembling the winch to clean and grease and while you're at it, check the pin?

I just watched a video on how to convert a winch to an elec winch, and it wasn't that complicated if you've ever serviced a winch. I'd certainly try and I'm no gear head!

G' luck!
