Garhauer Customer Service

On several occasions, I have requested information from Garhauer Marine Hardware concerning product information through their website e-mail contact form and have never had a response. Has anyone else encountered this issue with Garhauer? I am interested in buying some rope clutches and it seems unusual that they do not respond. I have not had this experience with Harken or Schaeffer. Thanks

Re: Garhauer Customer Service

I've asked a few questions via email and always told to call instead. As you can see from their site, they are not high tech.

I'm from the generation that would much rather email or text instead of talking on the phone.... It's a frustrating practice to me too.

Best to call. Small operation with good products and reasonable pricing. Guess your not paying for an IT department. Phone calls and writing letters; a lost art.

These are great people with a really small overhead, few office staff but great products and great service. Call them at
(909) 985-7513.

Re: Garhauer Customer Service

When you understand that they make everything there, and that there is noone sitting by the computer, and I think only one by the phone (who is doing all the office work) It is a bit easier to put up with. Love their products, but it takes time to make and ship em.

Re: Garhauer Customer Service

Yup. Ya gotta call (or stop by if you're in socal). I've spoken with Guido a few times. Great service. He's a bit gruff, but that's OK by me.

The products are very good. Great prices too.

Re: Garhauer Customer Service

I'll pile in on this point also - gotta call them. They just aren't email/computer people.

Re: Garhauer Customer Service

Everything, and I mean everything, I have heard about Garhauer is how friendly and accommodating they are. A phone call sounds like the ticket. Much better way to communicate anyway (except for time zone issues and costs of a call - if any extra).

Re: Garhauer Customer Service

I saw them at the boat show">Annapolis boat show and spoke to them. I needed a standard shape clamp, in a special size. No problem, provide dimensions, same price as standard.

Had a problem with a block? Here is a new one.

Re: Garhauer Customer Service

I just ordered two sets of their stanchion kayak racks. I was trying to do it online, and the first web site I was on has a freeze up issue. Or it could have been the marina we're in. Anyhow, I got to the end of the ordering process and had a frozen screen.

SO I started over, and this time made it through the ordering process. This was all done over the four day weekend in the US.

Today I got a phone call, and an email from Rob at Garhauer, to find out whether I wanted one, or two sets of kayak racks. The first order had obviously gone through without me getting a confirmation.

So far, I'm pretty happy that they double checked, and followed up a phone call with an email. The phone call was international for them, too.
