Fixed Bow Sprit

I'm thinking of getting an asymetric spinnaker and I am wondering the what are the downsides of fixed bow sprits compared to the removable Selden units?

I'm thinking of this (displayed on a jeanneau 49)

I can see it will come in handy when mooring bow first. But I am also worried that the extra LOA will be included in the marina fee. Also will it effect the rating rating differently to the same boat with a selden retractable???

The marinas will charge you for everything that sticks out so keep it in your pants.
