Figure on Charter Boat

I would like to install a boom brake on my next charter. I have a massive stainless figure 8. Need advice attaching it to the boom and the deck. At the moment I plan to whip the figure 8 to the end of the boom and I pray for mid ship cleats to to mount turn blocks.
Yes if I manipulate the sheet during a jibe I will never need them. I prefer to plan for the less-than-perfect.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Are you talking about a preventer, to prevent accidential jibes?
The boom brake I use is attached about where the boom vang attaches, and lines run to midship mounted blocks.

Are you talking about a charter boat you are buying and fitting out, or one you are renting for a vacation? If the later, you will be liable for any damage, or perceived damage, from installing your own gear. A boom brake can break the boom if not designed for it. And lots of charter companies will look for any perceived damage to keep a hold of that big deposit. I wouldn't give them the opportunity, or worry about the need. You will not be liable if damage occurs during a crash jibe on the standard boat. You will be liable if something is damaged while using your personal equipment, no matter the cause.
