'Eyebrow Awnings' for Portholes

Hello,

I'm looking for help in locating a supplier of eyebrow awnings for portholes.

I'm not sure if that's the correct term for them....they are the small (approx 16" x 4") external awnings fitted outside above portholes to stop/reduce rain entering when the porthole is open.

Any ideas where I can buy some of these would be much appreciated

have been looking for the ones formosas and cts have--are bronze and screw on to the ports--- if you wish canvas, see your local canvas shop--i am sure they can make some???

Actually I should have mentioned....the eyebrow awnings I've seen over portholes on cats are made of some sort of rigid "plastic" type material. That's what I'm looking for.

Like them. They are sturdy and during a recent trip really helped keep the boat much cooler (we're in Florida).

If you do find them make certain they are the kind that won't skin your ankles each time you walk by them. I always liked the soft plastic kind.

Found this thread while shopping for some kind of exterior port awning for my catamaran. I am leaning toward the Seaworthy Port Visors but also came across a version manufactured by SSI Plastics of Hollywood, MD called "Port Hoods". I believe that these are made of softer, opaque white plastic. I met a couple used this type on their Chris White Atlantic 46 and loved them. I have 12 26" Goiot portlights to cover so cost will definitely figure into the calculation.

A cheap alternative if you have round portholes is just plastic gardening pots. You cut the bottom out and part of the outer rim, and presto - rain protection! Pretty neat and economical.

Rather easy to make your own using plexi or lexan, heat with hot air blower, and bend to shape, forming them directly on the porthole frame.

I have the Portovisor from seaworthy goods. Great product and even better customer service. Made a world of difference, no racing around to close up when it starts to rain and can leave the ports open when off the boat. Just can't say enough about Seaworthy Goods, they helped me with a problem that was my fault.

If you leave the bottom in and cut out just part of one side you get a wind scoop.

Look for something that will not cut your feet as you walk by. A plain canvas shade over the area often keep most of the rain and all sun neatly away (but is more difficult to walk by.
