Easiest/Best way to make Winch and cheek block pads?

Sorry for the million questions...August is my crux month for this refit. If I can get a million little tasks done I can sail away in August.

ANYWAY

I need to reinstall 1 mast winch and 3 cheek blocks for reefing to new locations.

My plan for the Winch is to take a piece of 1/4" G10 that will be oversized in height. Throughbolt it to the mast on top and on bottom with a small spacer. WD40 the area underneath. Make a dam all around the bottom and sides and then fill the dam with thickened west system.

My plan for the cheek blocks was similar but without the G10.

good/bad? I've gotten some great info here. Thanks.

Your process will likely work, but will also make a mess and there is no way to confirm the quality control of it. My advice would be to scribe the profile of the mast onto the board and then cut it out on a bandsaw. You need a pretty substantial saw to do this however, and a carbide blade is pretty much mandatory when working in g10.

The other option is to make a mold of the mast and use it to cast the parts.

WD 40 could cause problems, same with silicone. Paste wax would work better.
