Cost of a rigging inspection?

What would people expect to pay for a once over of the standing rigging by an expert (including and basic adjustments)?

thanks

Re: Cost of a rigging inspection?

I was quoted ~$550 for a remove-the-rig inspection. I didn't do it.
I can see why an inspector would want the rig out, but it also seems to me that if all parts of the rig are visable, it could be done from a bosun's chair, etc.
What's the purpose of the inspection? Peace of mind/maintenance or insurance?

Re: Cost of a rigging inspection?

I charge $150.00 per mast plus $80.00 per hour for a full aloft inspection. Usually takes 2-3 hours for basic inspection with adjusting more depending on rig.If written report is required for insurance that will add an hour if it is not part of a full survey. Removing the mast is the best way to go but you can get a good inspection with the rig up.

Re: Cost of a rigging inspection?

No need to put the mast down, visuals cracks and problems are easy to spot but not the actual condition inside swages , chainplates, etc.. so if you dont know the age of your rigging is very pointles a expensive inspection, better replace in doubts.....

Re: Cost of a rigging inspection?

Folks, We recently installed a new Pro Furl furling system on our Beneteau 41' down in Tortola, which required replacement of the forestay due to size. We decided to ask the rigger to perform a full standing rigging inspection as it had been some time since it had been done. The charge for the inspection was $250. Said rigger being very reputable according to our surveyor of over 15 years. gts1544 - George

Re: Cost of a rigging inspection?

Thanks guys

I was quoted 300 euro for an inspection by my yard in greece. Initially thought that was pretty high but seems ballpark to these replies. really just need the forestay tightened which is pretty innaccessable but that may lead to other adjustments...

Re: Cost of a rigging inspection?

Dear Barra kalimera
This is the normal price 300 to 400 euro depends the mast.
We made an inspection 2 weeks ago on a jeanneau built 1993 2 hours were enough to check it if you are used to masts and you know where and how to look.likely she had only one crack like a hair on a terminal and we cross checked it with dyecolor for cracks.terminal-wire replaced
Where do you haul out? we are located on samos island
