Continuous line mainsheet traveler with two-way powered winch?

I'm searching for information about continuous line main sheet travelers with two-way powered winches and I'm not even sure I have the correct terms. I'm after what this guy mentions in his second topic.

Six Things We Love About Our Norseman 447 - MORSE ALPHA Expeditions

Does anyone have more information they can share, including opinions on the concept? Currently we have the traditional port and starboard lines style of main sheet traveler adjustment. As I adjust to cruiser life I'm thinking "push button sail trim" sounds pleasant.

"powered"?

That's an Andersen(now owed by Ronstan) Line-Tender. AFAIK, it was never powered and no one makes anything like it now. (They still sell a service kit, but the actual Line Tender in not in their current sales catalogue)
Edit: I may be wrong about it n longer being available. althoug it's not in their cataogue, it is still on their website:

It's a shame they don't do one that is manual AND powered. It would be good in the event of power or other failure.

Re: Continuous line mainsheet traveler with two-way powered winch?

I can comment on single line main sheet systems as I run one on my boat. I have use powered winches on other boats as well.

The big advantage of single line is that you have far less rope to deal with. Makes winching in much faster and also means a lot less rope piling up in the cockpit. I definitely like it. My system on a 35ft boat uses an 8:1 conventional winch each side. I find I very rarely need a winch handle as main sheet loads are quite low. Close hauled it needs a couple of turns at most just to get the sail flat and centered. I don't se any reason why power winches would not work just as well but the cost for me would be excessive unless you where in the 50ft+ size.

The key is getting the lead right. The traveler is easy. Standard arrangement to, or near the boom end then falls to the traveler. Yo need one block on the boom and 2 on the traveler. Taking one to each side means you can adjust the main from either side. The issue with conventional winches is then siting the winch to get the lead correct and the winch in a good position. You may need an extra lead block depending on the traveler arrangement. If you add pic's I could tell you what I would do.

The only advantage to the one shown is that it can be mounted very low down. That could work well if you can place it right at the end of the traveler but usually the problem is that the winch is to low not to high so the lead is not rising at the right angle and you get wraps.

Re: Continuous line mainsheet traveler with two-way powered winch?

We have the manual Antal line driver on our Leopard 43 and have found it to be ideal once I cleaned it up and greased it. We purchased our boat out of a charter fleet and I'm guessing it had not been cleaned/greased since it was built in 2005.
