Following on to my "new sails" thread What to Look for in New Cruising Sails
I have received a quote from the first sailmaker
They are suggesting sailcloth from Contender High Aspect
Main sail 36m2 - 9,4oz contender Low Aspect
sail 48m2 - 8,52oz contender High Aspect
I assume that the sailcloth is a Dacron like material but I have no idea if it is better, worse or similar. Anyone got experience with this?
I see they were founded in Holland
and are world wide and their race
laminates were used on the winner of the 08/09 Volvo
. So I guess Contender are at least not some anonymous manufacturer in China
Also, the sail cloth weights mean nothing to me other than I can see on the table where they fit in the range. I assume based on the position on the table these weights will be ok, but I am just guessing that.
I want the sails
for Med cruising with a possible coconut milk run run to Aus one day.
