Broken Mount for Boom Gallows (See Picture)

I found out that one of the mounts for my boom gallows cracked at some point, While out sailing the gallows suddenly feel back about 6 inchs on one side. No big deal right, get a new mount. I cant find one anywhere, although I dont know if Im looking in the right places.
Heres a picture. The gallows is framed with 7/8 in aluminum tubing and uses standard bimini mounts for 2 of the 3 mounting points on each side. The center mount is a fixed mount that mounts to the side of the cabin.



Any Idea where to find one? Or what to replace it with?

Haven't seen one of those castings around. Almost looks like it is pot metal with all the pitting. If it is, lucky it's lasted as long as it has.

If you can't find a NOS original piece, a marine metal shop could weld one up out of tubing and plate. Probably cost you at least .2 boat units but cheaper than throwing the gallows away if there are no other solutions. Have them make two while they are at it. The other one may be getting ready to go as well.

I suspect that roverhi is right. They appear to be of a cast material and not really well done at that. My suggestion is that you bring a plate across from the top to capture the well for the gallows post and that you tie that into a plate mounted where the current plate is. The gallows post would drop in as it does now but would be much stronger. I would think that 6061 T-6 aluminum about 3/16 would do the job very nicely and it polishes up really bright. Because aluminum is soft it's easy to work with and you can do all of your own cutting and then take it to a local welder for assembly.

That looks like the fitting used at the aft end of a powerboat bowrail, maybe.
If so try Taco or Perko.

Weren't most the fittings on US Yachts (Bayliner) made of cast chromed pot metal? I'd replace them all with something from a marine catalog.

picked up a stainless 30 degree fitting made by taco from west marine for 19.99 going to try to install it in about 20 minutes, looks identical to what I have. If it works Ill get a twin for the other side.

Glad you could find one so quickly. I'd put a bit of bedding compound under it as you install just to keep the water from getting into the glass.
