Broken Mast ! Is it Possible to Find One without Going Bankrupt ?

I'm thinking about to buy a sailing boat in Italy (Lazio). She's gigolette sciomachen around 12meters and doesn't has the mast.
I'm not an expert about sailing boats so I don't have an idea about the size of the mast but I guess will be around 17 meters.

The sailing boat dimensions are:
length 11.8 m
beam 3.74 m
depth 1.70 m

and the mast features are
The cross section: ellipse.
The approximate distances among their walls are:
-Among before and behind.... 23 cm
-among both sides... 15 cm
-the total perimeter.... 63 cm


I've been looking for masts but without great results , does anyone knows where I can find one mast that can fit these characteristics? Or a factory that builds this mast? - but located in Italy (around Lazio would be perfect) otherwise the mast shipment can be tremendously expensive.

Is it possible to find something in second-hand or I really have to go for a new one?

I'll be great full for informations because so far it seems the impossible mission to find a mast.

Go to the nearest Selden or their competition, they will make one for you. You may have to modify the deck aperture, if the mast goes all the way to the keel.

If there is any particular reason why the mast have to be exact size then have one manufactured in wood or carbon.

if you want a second hand mast better to check boat yards up and down the coast,locate a mast then motor yacht to the yard.
transport is going to cost between 2-3 euro per km,by truck n trailor.
alternatively build a mast trailer,and tow behind a pickup.

If you find a mast you can always cut him in half for transport and but him back together with a sleeve. Not very complicated.

If there is no mast, are there at least a set of sails? Otherwise you are in for spending big $.

I have just re rigged a 45ft yacht and it cost me around 45000 euros including new sails and complete mast with rigging both running and standing.
I cut my old one up. There was nothing wrong with it. I just had refurbished the whole boat and the mast was 45 yrs old.

I advertised the old one and 4 people desperately wanted it. But never came to collect it.... So i cut it up and got 100 euros for scrap value... Sad really as it was a solid bit of kit.
