Best Place to Buy Winches

I would like to know where folks buy their winches. I'm currently considering harken two speed self tailing that have the ability to be motorized later on.

I'm primarily worried about international shipping, followed by price.

Also, I noticed holmatro discontinued their line of sailboat winches and was wondering if anyone knew of outfits that might be offloading their inventory.

Thanks in advance....

boat dismantlers or scrappers. I know 2 that buy old boats cut them up and sell parts. I usually end up trading canvas work for parts

Re: Best place to buy winches

I just used this place last week: Star Marine Depot Boat Supplies, Marine Electronics and Boating Accessories"

It was $485.90 for a Lewmar 16 AST shipped. (Although I'm in the USA.)

Compare that to West Marine's price, $585.11 + tax.

You can often save money on shipping by using US Postal Service. I shipped a foil-less furler to Australia for one of our customers recently and it was a fraction of the price of UPS or FedEx. You may want to check with Defender in New York to see what they have to offer. Personally I prefer Andersen winches but Harken makes a good product.
