I think my mizzen is bent! About a meter and a half from the deck... can it be bent back?? Maybe with a bracket added over that spot?

Re: Bent mast...

A genius metalworker in the falklands repaired a very nasty mast bend on a 60 foot boat I worked on.

The mast was jacked straight with a big hydralic jack beween some posts welded to the deck of a big steel barge, and two carefully shaped (via backhoe..) doubler plates were made to cover and reinforce the distorted extrusion around the bend.

This repair took us across the Drake passage and back three times that season, and as far as I know its still going strong, So it can be done.
