Beneteau Companionway Keys

Hello,
We recently purchased a 2001 Beneteau 40 CC. The boat came with only one companionway key and we would like to get a few more. Unfortunately our local hardware stores can't make them and the local Beneteau dealer said that the Italian company that made the keys is now defunct. Does anyone know where to get blank Beneteau keys? If we have to use a locksmith I figure we might as well have the locks changed.
Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hey kennjackie,

I did a quick check on the Beneteau parts website, and it looks like you can get them there under part number 060940.

Here's the website if you don't already have it:

BENETEAU USA - MARION

I've found it slightly painful sometimes to get parts from there (slow and inefficient, esp if you are in a hurry), but at least you know they are the right part you need!

Frank

Thanks, Frank. I went to the Beneteau USA site on Saturday Morning. I had to sign up even just to search parts. I'm still waiting for them to get back to me with a login and password. You weren't kidding when you said they are slow!
Hopefully they will have what we need.

Call Ward Richardson at Beneteau USA 843-629-5300. The Web-site is to much of a PITA.

FWIW...

The "Hillman Y5" blank works for Beneteau keys. If you're interested there's a long thread on the Beneteau 393 site about keys.

I feel your pain!! I went to 3 different locksmiths on St Martin and they all said it was backwards. I found a locksmith in my hometown - Anchorage, AK - who swears what he made will work. I'll find out in about 4-5 months I guess.

Please let us know if the solutions shown here worked:

Re: Beneteau Companionway Keys

The companionway lock provided by Beneteau for your 40CC is a pathetic device that would not keep even the most amature of felons at bay. Do away with it and fit something substantial to protect your valuable investments. If you want a picture of the lock I have fitted, please feel free to contact me. Cheers, Tony
