The B&R Mast

I have no experience of a boat with this kind of rig. It´s little trickier in downwind because its dubble spreader but is it good?

Any other yacht except hunter who use it?

I don't see it having any disadvantages but then I don't see any advatages to it either. Not having a backstay does not seem to offer anything I can think of. With a carbon Fiber rig you don't need any shrouds. Our rig can stand without any spreaders but they added them so they would make the boat look right.

It all comes down to structural design. For the types of loads these boats take the design is perfectly fine. Hunter has been doing it for many years.

The lack of a back stay allows for a large roach mainsail-commonly seen on multi hulls and now on high performance monos with full battens- if this is what you have then you are getting the advantage of the sx. Why hunter uses the rig is another thing. A disadvantage is the associated swept spreaders which limit downwind main position. If you have a roll up mainsail-don't worry about it you are not hardly sailing anyway and performance under sail is not an issue to concern you.
