Aluminum Reconditioning

Please take a look at the picture of my wing door and comment on the best way to restore it. I managed to replace the knob mechanism but as you can see the holes didn’t line up Click image for larger version

Sand, fill with Epoxy filler, sand flat, Epoxy primer (if you want sand the primer in while its wet and apply a second coat once cured) , Paint, done.

Looks like your door was not a big fan of the stainless fitting.

Possibly put a layer of tape between fitting and door.

The fitting was a replacement (on top of the corrosion). I’ll remove it and repair the corrosion then replace the fixture

Epoxy paint the back of the fitting if / where it's touching aluminum
