Y-Valve Question ( with Photo )
I'm not sure how to set my Y valve to direct waste to the holding tank. Regarding the valve in this picture, based on the position of the handle, would the flow be to the Left or Right port of the valve?

Don't have the identical valve in my system but based on standard protocols for valve setups I would say the photo shows the flow to the left.
In general I assume that a valve handle lines up with the direction of flow.

I'd say based on the picture, flow is from the bottom up and to the left port.

Based on the arrows that are showing, I would say the flow is up to the right. When the handle is moved to the other position, the arrow pointing up to the left is exposed and the flow is to the left.

The ARROWS should show the direction of flow. To confirm this, look into the ports. It should be apparent as to which are in the open position.

As pictured, flow would be from the lower port, through the right port, as indicated by the visible flow arrow.
The left port indicator arrow is obscured by the handle.

I have two identical valves. Gord is correct, comes in from the head through the bottom and goes in the direction of the arrow that is not obscured by the handle. The flanges can be turned so as not to point upwards.

The equivalent Whale flow diverter is much simpler to understand, as the direction of the lever is also the direction of the flow. Thus people who are not experienced with the diverter, make the right decision quickly on which way the lever should be pointing.

Just put some water in the top and open it to see what why it comes out. That takes all questions out
