Wilcox Crittenden Imperial pics please

Hey everyone,

After getting tired of having to fix my W/C head mate every couple months I tracked down an old Imperial online. The seller said all it needed was a rebuild kit, so I bought the Imperial, ordered the kit, and when it all finally arrived I found that absolutely all of the internals of both the intake and discharge had been removed.

My argument with the seller aside, I managed to cobble together the discharge side enough that it works, but the intake side I just cant quite figure out from the old schematics I've found online.

Any chance that someone here might have taken pictures of the internals of the intake side of their pump at some point? I'm pretty good at cobbling things together and I have access to a machine shop, but I have to understand exactly what needs to go on inside the housing in order to make it work.

Hope someone can help! Thanks in advance!

If you'll send me an email (not PM..no way to attach anything to a PM..select email option instead) I can send you pics from W-C catalog, exploded drawing and parts list.

Thank you, sir! However, your praise for my "rescue" may be premature...I haven't gotten anything from him yet.

Well, I wish him luck. We had an Imperial on our previous boat and it was still going well after 30 years service. I did have to replace one bit of bronze internal linkage that wasted away, and made a replacement plunger for the pump with an O-ring instead of leather cups, but the toilet was in use full time cruising for 17 years in our ownership, and went through several previous owners, too. Kinda different from our Jabsco on this boat!

Re: Wilcox Crittenden Imperial pics please

30 years is young for a well maintained Imperial--all of the original W-C bronze "thrones"...they were made to last at least 50 years if not 100. Unfortunately there isn't enough profit in service kits and repair hardware for toilets that last for decades and have price tags most boat owners won't pay for mfrs to keep 'em in production.

But there is an affordable toilet that is built to last at least 20 years if it's just kept well lubricated and rebuilt every 5-6 years: the Raritan PH SuperFlush Raritan PH SuperFlush It uses the PHII pump--top rated since it was introduced in 1982. You'd love it! Defender has it for +/- $300 depending on your choice of bowl size.

If Defender had free shipping to Australia, I'd go for one in a flash!

Hi Peggie

Thank you so much for the offer! I've been trying for most of today to look for the email option in your contact section but both the android app and online version of the forum has me completely beaten. My email is Ryan.Hayward@rocketmail.com

I'm especially interested in the intake side of things, from what I can piece together it looks like the foot pedal acts as a valve that diverts external water through the intake into the top of the pump on the down stroke and redirects it into the bowl on the up stroke. However I'm not seeing where a check would go to keep it from being pushed back out the intake. The discharge seems like a pretty straightforward design comparatively and I think I've got that part mostly cobbled together.

Thanks again!

-Ryan

I'll get an email off to you today...but for future reference, you only have to click on a poster's username in the box at the upper left of his/her post to bring up the option to send a PM, email (unless the poster has opted out of emails in favor of PMs only) and a bunch of other things.

Re: Wilcox Crittenden Imperial pics please

Just wanted to say I was finally able to get my Imperial up and running. Had to start from scratch for all the pump internals but with the drawings you were kind enough to send me I managed to cobble it together pretty good. Thanks again!
