Where, Oh Where Is that Darn Sump Pump ?

Good evening all! We have a 1988 Jefferson Motoryacht, 45' ft with aft stateroom, en suite head with tub and shower. We have lived aboard for 5 yrs and have constantly been concerned that the sump pump taking care of the aft Master shower/sink and sink on aftdeck bar would stop working. We have searched and searched for this particular sump box and can not locate it anywhere. We see the large black hose apparently disappearing under the waste holding tank but of course we can't get to that area to ck it out.

Well, our worries came to fruition and the sump pump will not operate by itself. We have to physically turn a breaker on to allow the pump to pump out the water, which we have been doing, but we would love for it to work by itself as before.

We contacted Jefferson and they can't tell us where it is located, they didn't start keeping floorplans of their boats until the 90's so we are out of luck, unless someone who reads this wonderful forum has a Jefferson like ours and can help us out. Any and all help MUCHO appreciated!!!

Doe's the holding tank have a clean-out/inspection port?
Is it possible that it’s inside the tank?

I would get the boat real quiet and then turn the breaker on and listen to where the pump noise comes from. That might help you find it.

where o where is that darn sump pump?

We have done the 'turning all off and listening' thing and can not locate it. We did not even have a senidng unit or gauge to tell us how full our waste tank was until we installed it. So I don't think its there either! Capn even tried fitting himself inside the tiny opening to the bilge that we have to see if he could see anything today, and nothing but dirty feet! more help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can't follow the wires to the pump, follow the outlet hose back to it.

Does it pump over board or stay in the tank until you pump it? I'm with James; it should be in the collection tank. I would fill a sink on that circuit then pull the drain and make sure where it's going.

Hoses disappear under the waste holding tank. We have a small sump that we can see that comes from the forward shower, we have converted the shower stall into a pantry, so we don't use it. When the sump pumped by itself, we assume it would stay in that area like an open box, until it filled and then pumped out. Now we have to turn the circuit breaker on to the sump to keep it from going into the bilge and filling it up, when we take our showers. We can't see where the aft sinks and shower water go, that is the problem
