Re: What type of silicon sealant do I need?

put a towel on the floor in front of the fridge to catch the few drips / the Perspex looks like it's to stop trays sliding out / your boat must be perfectly trimmed to suit the fridge drain / you blokes are spoilt

Silicon is a beautiful purple metallic-appearing crystal. Silicone is the flexible stuff.

Re: What type of silicon sealant do I need?

I wouldn't use silicon caulk for anything, house or boat. I used Boatlife poly-sulphide for years until I found out the Poly Seam Seal or Dap's version, Bathroom Caulk & Adhesive, works just as well and is a fraction of the cost of anything sold at West Marine. Only problem is black is hard to find.

I use those exclusively for bedding and sealing anything on a boat or house. My cabin side windows were put in with this over 20 years ago and still no leaks. A professional rigging shop even used Poly Seam Seal to assemble my Norseman fittings. I said "What?" He said, "used it for years, better, cheaper, never had a problem." The adhesive function is strong but removable without taking a chain saw to your deck. I do use 5200 occasionally for areas where the item can't be seen and where removal in not likely, like backing plates under deck fittings.
