What the Heck Is a Qest Thread?

Hey all! I'm looking at purchasing a Jabsco Sensor fresh water pump. Jabsco says it has both hose barbs and 1/2" Qest thread male ports. What the heck is a male threaded Quest connection? I want to attach my PEX hose with a 1/2" female NPT connection....any idea if they are compatible? Every other plumbing fitting in the World is 1/2" NPT...why do they make this so complicated?

We have Pex in our boat (1991). The problem with Pex is that they tried to use it homes and it sucked, got banned and no one uses it any more. Seems better than hose barbed fittings to me but that was the problem. I have a friend that has a boat load of the stuff. To me it seems better than tubing. Homes need 90+ PSI ratings and you really can do well with 35 PSI on a boat. You waste less fresh water that way. Homes need it to water the back 40 (acres) so go figure. It also helps with fire protection (the real reason).

Hi Paul! I'm installing my PEX right now. Your info is a little dated though...PEX is booming now. See this: AquaPEX - AquaPEX PEX Plumbing - Wirsbo AquaPEX Tubing - AquaPEX PEX Pipe Wirsbo ProPEX fittings are wonderful. The tool is pricey though...mine was $180.00 used on Craig's list. Should be a sweet system when its done. I'll post pics soon, but more importantly...WHATS A QUEST THREADED CONNECTION?

Hey Tao, I shouted again!

This probably sounds like double-talk, but Qest is a product of Zurn. See: Zurn.com
