I must confess to never having heard of a kerosene stove on a boat. I would have thought it might stink the boat out.

We have a Kenyon kero stove/oven on our Cape Dory 31 which I plan on converting to propane. Didn't care for the flames trying to light and warm it enough to work right.

I agree with this idea, if set up properly it will all but eliminate the on/off cycling that occurs when tap/fawcett is just cracked open. The pump will still cycle of course but at greater intervals which is easier on the ears and better for pump switchgear and more even flow of water which may improve shower evenness of temp and flow.

Yep, our firs boat was an Herreshoff 28 and it had a two burner primus stove. If you asked the admiral she would almost chuck up thinking about it! If you were anchored in a seaway of any description and trying to cook it would be enough to bring on mutiny- the motion with the fumes, a deadly combination. When the thing is burning clean is not so bad but when turning off if any unburnt kero near the hot surfaces smoked up it was diabolical, or if a momentary blockage of needle jets, or not hot enough start up with the meths meaning a pure jet of liquid kero instead of a vaporized mix- eeeuuuuurgggghhhh!.
The picture is of a freestanding kero single burner, we used to call it a "Primus" stove, though that was the brand. Strictly best for outdoor use, and if it came to that, would prefer an open fire any day.

I had a two burner Shipmate with oven for years...kind of cantankerous at times, but a pretty decent unit.

The Primus stoves we used for camping used white gas. They had a tendency to explode.

Miserable damn things. The liquid being poured into the burner cups is alcohol. If you actually got it lit, it would burn hot.
