Whale IC Fresh Water Pump

Does anyone have any experience with the Whale IC freshwater (galley) pumps?

The website states that it is not VSD technology, but actually better

I personally think Whale pumps are well built and have had good results with different types of Whale pumps onboard...

I am looking at the same pump for a shower sump, Whale IC. The staff at Fisheries Supply says they are good, but still looking for a real world user.

Best freshwater pump: Jabsco VSD or however they call it, with the gold colored sensor for variable speed control. Mine is 8 years old at full time liveaboard use.

Best sump pump: Whale Gulper 220. We have these also as bilge pumps. For gray water tank also 8 years at full time liveaboard use, I used a rebuild-kit and it could use it, even thogh it was still pumping. Solid performer and no rotating parts that collect hair as so many pumps do.

I agree with the Whale diaphragm pump as a sump pump - we also had one of these in use for about 6 years of full time liveaboard and it is still working great. Not sure of the model # but it is the 3/4" outlet/intake.

Jedi, are you using the Jabsco without an accumulator tank? Do you know if installing one with a tank (already in place) would affect it's performance?

I'm considering one in the hope it is quieter than my Shurflo and I can eliminate the pressure tank.

Yes the VSD pumps don't need the accumulator at all. Your system will be better (less like to have future problems) if you remove the accumulator, but it will work fine with it still installed.
