Watermaker plumbing

Random question about plumbing a fresh water line from a watermaker to fresh water holding tank. Would you suggest placing a dedicated inlet in the watertank for the watermaker water or having the water tap in to the fresh water outlet (currently goes from the tank to the house pump).

Any suggestions appreciated.

My water tank has sight tubes so I plumbed water maker into that location

Ours goes into the line going from our fresh water manifold to the water pump. That way we can direct it to any of the three tanks by opening/closing the various valves on the manifold.

Just tap into the water fill hose. That has worked for us

The best is always straight to the fresh water tank (Tapped on top) You need to be careful tapping into manifolds where all the valves can be accidentally shut off. You can damage the system this way.

One suggestion: put a T connector with a valve in the product line somewhere convenient. This allows you to easily draw samples for testing or directly fill a water bottle.

My watermaker output is routed to a tee in the suction side of the potable water pump. As others have indicated that allows me to fill whichever tank is online at the time.

The “sample” output line is routed to a spigot at my galley sink. This allows me to fill the water jugs that I use for drinking water, as well as test the water (although I have a inline TDS tester)
