Water Strainer

I need a replacement AC water strainer, max height of about 6 inches, including all fittings. Hose size is 3/4 inch.

The one in use is made by Shurflow, but I don't think they make it anymore, and it's not very robust to begin with -- which is why it leaks.

Forespar makes a nice one that I thought would work, until I saw that the intake fitting was on the bottom, making it too tall for my application.

Jabsco makes some small ones for bilge pumps, but I think I would need to install at least two in parallel lines to handle the flow.

Is anyone aware of a shallow inline filter like this ?

That's the other option I looked at, and may have to go to. I may be wrong, but I think for an AC pump, I should have a finer mesh. Then I'd need to provide for more media surface area by additional units in parallel.
Not an attractive solution, but may be the best one.

Have you checked GROCO MARINE PRODUCTS. They are what I use and are substantial. Not sure if they would fit in your application.

Well now, I had looked at the pictures of them in a catalog, but dismissed them as they looked too tall.
But I just checked the dimensions, and one just might fit. Again, I think a finer mesh might need to be wrapped around the basket, but I'll check w/ Groco tomorrow,and check if I have room for it as well.

yesterday I pulled the raw water engine strainer due to air leaks (not water leaks). The plastic Vetus is history. I added a new Groco (big one). I have a tall skinny one on the AC too. Same one I had on the CSY 33 raw water. These are the stuff that can last 30 years. At about 10 years old they look a little old but they clean up fine. At 20 they can look bad but clean up just as well.

I may have added one that was short and fat for my head on the CSY 33 I suppose that might be the one you added. Screw on top? They cost more but you just can complain about them long after you can't recall you bought them.
