Re: Water Pump That Is Affecting My Love Life

Accumulator is a "spring" basically, the larger the spring, the fewer the cycles the pump goes through, but of course it runs longer when it's on.
Surely your pump isn't 10 ft above your tank as was posted?
If it's sucking air, it could have what amounts to an air hammer, which is noisy, it could also be a partially clogged dip tube, clogged with lime. I've had that and water flow was reduced, pump was noisier and pump run time was longer as pressure build up was slower. Easy to check, just pull the dip tube

How often the pump runs will be the main difference.

It's not. It's about 7' from the bottom of my water tank to the pump. Perhaps I am confused, but I assumed a "priming distance up to 10 feet" was the length of the hose not just vertical rise.

Re: Water Pump That Is Affecting My Love Life

If water will flow to the pump inlet on its own then the self priming feature of the pump isn't being used to lift water. They mean the pump should be able to lift water 10 feet vertically. But in that case the hose must also support this negative pressure (about 5PSI). The length of the hose is only important in that it reduces the flow rate the longer it is. But 7 feet isn't that much to worry about.

Re: Water Pump That Is Affecting My Love Life

It doesn't matter where the bottom the tank is except where it is empty
But the losses in the suction piping have to subtracted from the height of the rated lift

When installed in the system will the pump pump quiet just into a bucket

Re: Water Pump That Is Affecting My Love Life

I wonder if the OP changed anything about the pump mounting condition when switching to the new pump? (Shock absorbing mount surely?)

Was the new pump unmounted to perform the bucket test?

Mine was loud on a solid mount installed by previous owner.

The location was not changed, for the replacement or the bucket test, and whether sitting on its rubber feet or held in my hand, the sound of the pump was not affected.
