Water Heater in a 37' CSY

Has anyone replaced a hotwater heater on a 37' CSY? Ours quit working and it is beside the steps of the companionway. It looks like the boat was built around it. We are trying to figure out how to get it out without pulling the engine and the companion way steps. Any suggestions?

We had a CSY33 a few years ago and we have a few CSY members here on CF but you can find more of them on Topica. There were two floor plans for the CSY 37. If you could post pictures in the CF photo gallery I'm you get get some ideas from CF members.
