Vitrifrigo DW250 - Comments, Recommendations ?

Our 20 year old Norcold refrig/freezer (front loading, dual doors) is showing signs of age and we would like to replace it before we take off to ports unknown. We are interested in the Vitrifrigo DW250 mainly because of the dual compressors.

DOes anyone have any information or experience with Vitrifrigo units or know of another brand that they would highly recommend? This is for a motor vessel with a genset.

Any questions I'm not asking that I should be??
Thanks!

Re: Vitrifrigo DW250 Comments- recommendations?

We have Vitrofrigo on our boat. The units are less than a year old. We had a problem with the ice maker but it was easily repaired under warranty. The only other problem we have had is the thermostate ices up and so it thinks the fridge is colder than it really is. When this happens you have to take out the slide out drawer to defrost and clean properly. We find we have to defrost about every 6 weeks. Also the slides will not take any side ways force when the drawer is open. We broke a slide while under way but replacing the slide is easy and took only a few mins. Pros; They look great and are easy to use. Cons; we find the stainless steel ones hard to keep clean and be careful of those slides.
