Vacuflush

My clients system keeps pumping but I don't loose water in the bowls. I can't find a schematic but assume there is a switch that turns the pump off once a vacuum is reached.

Re: Vacuflush

the pump should shut off on its own once vacuum is reached. Check for leaks in the vacuum system. check the vacuum switch to see it is working, Yes you should shut the pump off. usually a switch by the head and a breaker at main panel It will not evacuate until the flush lever is pushed.

Re: Vacuflush

I found that the pump would not shut off when the holding tank was full and needed to be pumped out. Don't know exactly why this happens but assume system is prevented from establishing a vacuum. It happened to me once after we got back to our slip after a week-long cruise. As soon as I had the system pumped out it worked fine. Pump shut off as advertised.
I've also noticed that the pump runs long er as the holding tank gets filled up. This doesn't seems logical but it happens anyway.

Re: Vacuflush

Either a vacuum leak or a bad pressure switch. Could be a bad electrical connection to the pressure switch.

After 2 units failing in the last 12 months and 2 different 'professionals' at over $1000 the problems did not get sorted until I bought one of the vacuflush vacuum gauges from marinediscounters.com and followed the procedure.

Troubleshooting moves instantly from speculation to a process of elimination. Still took a bit of work, but was all logical with the gauge.

One system had 2 things wrong and the other 3. With that sorted neither of them cycle in 3-4 days (without use) which is - perfect!

And why the f^&k couldn't the "professionals" have done that? I love hiring incompetent people to poke in the dark at my expense.

Re: Vacuflush

Check the duck bill valves. If they are cracked or dirty, you will have to replace them... Also if anything gets stuck in them the will not properly close.

Check that nothing is blocking the outlet.
