i have read a lot of post about the (Un)
reliability of float switches in
bilge pump applications.
Has anyone used or researched the use of an ultrasonic
sensor to control the
bilge?
It seems you would need to mount at least 300mm from
sensor to
water level for minimum sensing distance for most type of industrial ultrasonic sensors. However, the benefits of having a non mechanical level detection where there is no risk of getting guncked up and jammed either on or off would be a benefit if you have the room to mount one.
Also, you can pick up an industrial type sensor from an industrial
electrical supplier for the same
price (if not cheaper) as the mechanical type from a
marine store.
