Turnbuckle Finish

The chrome finish on my Gibb turnbuckles is peeling off, has anybody ever had their turnbuckles re-plated, if so how did the finish end up? Was it expensive relative to new turnbuckles?

Many thanks

Fletch

Re: Turnbuckle finnish

Came out like new. Price about 7 units per each (we had 8 done in one batch). New turnbuckle body about 70 units. Bronze bodies last 'for ever'.

If you are sailing, you may want to replace the ends at the same time. Bronze ends get chromed too. SS ends get replaced as per any other element of rigging - depending on your use and climate.

HATE TO SOUND STUPID, IS A BOAT UNIT ONE DOLLAR?

Where did you get them done? I have 6 that I would like to do, 4 5/8" and two 1/2".

If it was under 10 dollars a piece, please let me know where to go?

Our units are EUR but yours will be USD, if you live there.

We talked to people who restore old cars and they sent us to the right garage. I think keen bikers will know the way too. Plenty of chrome there.
