Many complain about Jabsco. I have one too. So far no problems but I put the paper in a separate bin. The bin is airtight and doesnot relieve any smell. Sail solo so produce very little waste material.

Mamma decided she want's GOOD TP. So, our rules are NO TP in the electric heads. I point out to guests that if they don't like the rules, I hope they are handy with rubber gloves and tools, as they will be learning how to disassemble a marine head.

So 30% of the poll responders are using double ply or the the good stuff with a manual head. I assume that this is working without problems or they would change.

Now I have never had a head clog in 6 years and 2 different boats using the single ply paper. But now I'm starting to consider the worth of using the better paper and risk a clog once in a while. Since most "clogs" will clear if allowed to sit a while it may be no where near the big mess risk it is made out as.

I wonder if most of the described "rules" are enforcable. I don't want the job of sorting the the can and counting bundles.

Jabsco manual. 17 years and no clogs. I do advise folks that the pipes are small and that multiple flushes can be wise. RV paper mostly, but not always.

I bet that installation makes a difference. My aft head the flow goes down. But in the forward head the tank is higher than the head and takes a lot more p8umping etc and I bet would clog more (it never has though).

ON our head the tank is higher than the sh*tter. We use the good stuff. Never had a head clog on me - ever. If we have guests, I tell them to multiple flush.

Younger females get told that female specific hygienic items go into a bag - not the can.

Can't vote in the poll because there is no "composting" category.

But if I could vote I would check the box by "the softest and most caressing product I can find" because it's impossible to clog the non-existent pipes on my C-head's bucket.

Some composting toilet users bag their paper but I think it's not needed.

With well over forty years of living aboard and using 2-ply toilet paper and a manual head I have had one head clog. This occurred when a guest on board was found to have a habit of eating copious amounts of sunflower seeds and swallowing the husks. My joker valve area and back toward the hand pump was impacted with these sunflower seed husks! 'never had a problem with toilet paper.

I have noticed the vacuum principle electric devices tend to clog less often than the macerator based ones.

Or maybe it is just the couple of units I have witnessed this far.

Sealand also recommends the 'put a couple squares in a jar, shake and check how it disintegrates' Test.

There is an individual at fisherman's wharf in Vancouver who had recently taken to getting feces on things.
From feces on the inside stall handle to feces in the shower, he's certainly doing his part to save on tp!

Not planning to use my hand, it's not nearly absorbent enough to leave things clean imo. Perhaps toilet paper appreciation varies with hirsuteness?

Double ply is fine in my Jabsco. Only one clog so far, after a big offering to the porcelain God, and I found mussel shells in the tube. They did NOT come out of me! This was after the boat had sat for the winter, so obviously a mollusk or two had found its way in to the nutrient rich environment that is my sewage system. Also, this was not to a holding tank, as I was 3 miles out. Luckily, only on a weekend trip and the repair was fairly simple.
