TMC marine toilet

Does anyone have experience with discharge not keeping up with incoming water?

Re: TMC marine toilet

That can be due to several possible causes... Low voltage to the toilet is a leading cause of sluggish discharge. Put a volt meter on the motor WHILE FLUSHING...anything less that a full 12v indicates low voltage. That can be a result of the toilet not being on its own separate dedicated circuit...even cabin lights can reduce the voltage.

Sea water mineral buildup in the toilet discharge hose that's reduced the diameter enough to restrict discharge flow. Even a mineral encrusted joker valve is enough to do it Remove the discharge fitting from the toilet and inspect the joke valve (replace it if it's more than a couple years old even if it's clean) and the inside of the hose. A 12% solution of muriatic (hydrochloric) acid flushed through the line--may require a couple of treatments--will clean it out. A cupful of distilled white vinegar flushed through the system weekly will prevent it.

Or it could also be a worn discharge impeller that can no longer keep up with the flow of water coming in. That's gonna require a new discharge impeller...might be a good idea to put a whole rebuild kit into the toilet too.

Or, if you flush into a tank, a blocked or partially blocked tank vent is causing backpressure in the toilet discharge line. Clean out the vent thru-hull...use a screwdriver blade, ice pick whatever works.

Re: TMC marine toilet

I realized too late to edit to add...low voltage can also mean that the battery is low...or, if it's a newly installed toilet, wrong wire size for the distance (always measured round-trip, not one way) from the battery.
