thru hull valve replacement

Can somebody give me a rough idea of how tough this is? One of the valves on my boat is so stiff each time I turn it I am scared it will break before it moves...

Thanks,
J

Close it off, remove the hose, load it with waterproof grease, re-attach the hose and work the handle. If that does not work then haul the boat and try to remove it. If it has been bedded with 5200 it is a good bet you will need to cut the flange off with a sawsall and drive it out from the outside.

we have found the step wrench works about 30 to 40 percent of the time and for the rest it takes cutting the thru-hull.
