Definitely. And after all, it is Cruisers Forum, not day sailors forum.

+1 Absolutely not a solution for a cruising sailor.

The composting head is about the cleanest thing that I can think to use as a throne. I am bias as I do have one. I don't think I will ever have a holding tank again. C-head is the end all for me.

Re: The Head To End All Heads

This really strikes me as a poor option, but who am I to say. If it works for you, then OK... I guess .

Have you considered a composting head? Seems like a much better idea. Similar benefits, but here the feces are broken down (composted) to some degree before being dumped. Landfills are not intended to accept raw human feces. Yes, I know, diapers... but that doesn't make it right, or smart. Maybe if you dump the contents into the toilet first before landfilling the garbage bags... But placing raw feces into the landfill is really just a bad idea.

Re: The Head To End All Heads

A few years ago we did a 10 day white water rafting trip down the Franklin river.
The policy was to carry out all solid waste.
A small plastic bag was used and then deposited in an old metal ammunitions container that was strapped to the centre of the raft.

Sounds disgusting, spending all day bouncing in a rubber raft only feet from, said, metal box.
In practice it worked vey well. It was an open raft, but surprisingly there was no smell and it was a simple, foolproof system.
As a bonus the job of emptying it at the end of 10 days was delegated to most unhelpful member of the group

Maybe cruisers can learn from our rafting colleagues that manage with minimal facilities.

Urine is quite sterile. So that was permitted to be discharged in the river.

When sailing, given the dilution factor in an ocean, I doubt many cruisers would object, given a bit of care.
In a small enclosed body of water it may be of concern.

Didn't mean on your trip, I meant in the OP's setup. Seems like the only option he's left himself is over the side, which is fine for a male crew in benign conditions (most drowning victims from boats are found with their zipper down). What about the ladies? I know some of them can pee over the side just fine, but that seems to be an acquired skill most ladies aren't interested in acquiring! And even if your crew does have and use this skill without complaint, what about guests?

After a year on the lake, we will see if the "Hold the Mayo" porcelain wag bag station is a success or a flop. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

One comment was weight. I doubt it will make the boat list to one side. If the Hunter 33 or the Catalina 28 MKII passes me, I will yank it out and toss it over the side. Would hate to loose my advantage

I think the scented bags idea is a good one. There is a product on Amazon to scoop and pour into wag bags to eliminate odors may try that.

Urine? That is what the puppy pee pads are for. Very absorbent.

If I were storing the bags long term, that might be a great solution for odor control. I have a tall slender one.

What did your system cost, out of pocket from first phone call to final installation?

What does it cost to have it pumped out?

This will be my next choice to look into, if this idea, does not pan out. Lol

Bags today break down pretty quickly, that do not sit unscaved for hundreds of years like they used to. Human waste is worse than bird cage waste how? Worse than cat litter waste how? Worse than tampons how? Everything in the sack will promptly return to the earth, after the temporary hold placed on it, in the bags.
