Tank Monitoring System

I am looking at putting in a tank monitor system. Looking at either the Raritan or the Sensatank 100. Does anyone have any experince with either and any recommendations ?
Are they effected by the engine being on the other side of a wooden bulkhead ??

You might wish to look at the SCAD Technologies "Solo" tank monitor. I've been using it for my holding tank for about a year.



I get good readings and there is abolutely nothing placed in the tank.
Adhesive sensors are placed outside the tank....



A simple display shows five intervals of capacity filled.

The company that mfrs the Scad gauges--Profile (link in my previous reply) also makes a model that can take up to 8 tanks on a single panel.

We have two Tecma 24v electric toilets, each with a 30 gallon holding tank. I installed a 24v electro-mechanical counter similar to the one at the below site, wired to the water valve solonoid on each toilet. We found we could get 78 flushes in each tank so now we take action at about 60 flushes. The counter is located so its easily readable when using the head.

Dennis, I'm still very pleased with my Scad-solo tank monitoring unit for my holding tank, but I must admit that it recently stopped working. I have trouble-shooted all the wiring and my "read" button pressed always lights the lowest level despite the content level in the tank. I have noticed a white, apparently oxidation, on the tapes and terminals adhered to the tank,- could this be a factor and how would I clean and maintain these parts on the tank? I must repeat that I've been very pleased with your product. I just need a recommendation regarding this present glitch.

I installed a different brand of monitor that uses this system of sensors on the outside of the tank. It works fine on the potable water system but not on the holding tank unless I remove the inspection cover and clean the "crap" off the inside wall of the tank where the sensors are. The system reads the crap on the tank wall and thinks the tank is full.

My temporary problem with my Scad - Solo appears to have been just a simple disconnect at my installed wiring and not a problem with the system "Reading" the level or "Misreading" due to deposits on the inside surface of the tank. Actually, with being frequently underway and with wake an chop; or maybe it's due to more flushing that lowers the ratio of solids in the mix; ...maybe the plastic tank material; .... I don't have a layer of deposits on the inside surface of my tank. When I open up the access to the tank and backlight it, I can clearly see the fluid level through the wall.

Rwidman:Never heard of that in a capacitance system before. I supply Calalina, Hanover, Marquiss and many others and I have never had a complaint with our system which is a capacitance system. We manufacture everything we sell. when you say the system reads the crap on the tank wall and thinks it is full. Sorry missed one part of the letter, system of sensors? Probably not capacitance If you would like help to figure out what is going on I would be happy to talk to you. I will send you a message with my contact info.

Also Capt Force, glad you figured out it was a wire. Like I had said to you normally problems like you were having are normally wire issues. Glad I could help you with your problem.
