Strainer Basket

I need to make a raw water strainer. I can get perforated SS 1/16" to 1/4" in 1/16th increments.

I am not sure what size strainer holes would be best?

I have one 2" through hull that goes to the the strainer, and feeds everything, A/C engine and head. It needs a 5" x 8" basket . The engine and transmission heat exchangers have 1/4" copper tubes, so maybe the 3/16" holes? Or maybe smaller?

Thanks
Glen

Re: Strainer Basket?

My strainer is an odd size made out of stainless tube and flange, there is no name on it and it looks like the factory made it.
The basket is shot, and needs to be replaced.

Groco strainer baskets for 2" strainers have .077 inch / 1/16" holes.

Re: Strainer Basket?

Hop, that is what I was looking for, I will use 1/16" size with an open area of around 50%.

Thanks
Glen
