Shutting off refrigeration.

We are leaving the boat for about 6 weeks and I'm wondering weather to turn off the refrigeration or let it run. It's an isotherm conversion kit. I remember one person having a start-up problem after they shut their refer down for awhile. Thanks for your input.

Re: Shutting off refrigeration.

You don’t need to turn yours off already to defrost?

We’ve got an isotherm, circa 2006, that we turn off on a regular basis.

Re: Shutting off refrigeration.

I've been shutting down my fridges for 6-7 months a year for at least 11 years. I've never had an issue re-commissioning. My 20 year old fridge is currently in need of recharging. It works, but not as cold as it used to be. I believe that has more to do with the fact that it's 20 years old, than 'mothballing' it all winter.

Re: Shutting off refrigeration.

6 weeks, turn it off, dry it out and leave it open so it doesn’t mildew.
Over the week and your coming back on the weekend? Leave it on.
It doesn’t hurt to turn it off, In fact hopefully it turns itself off several times a day.
