Shore water supply safeguard

There are many systems we use on a modern boat which are inherently risky, like air conditioning, which pumps sea water inside the boat. Also shore power, sometimes through very dodgy connections.
Rather than not using these amenities I prefer to try to minimize the risk.
I believe I have done this with our dock water supply, which didn’t have any safeguards against an internal pipe failure, which has been known to sink boats.
I’ve written a page on my website about how I installed a automatic fail-safe valve, which might be of interest to anyone without safeguard—other than remembering to switch the faucet off when leaving the boat.
Go to Schooner Britannia, a Brigantine Schooner being renovated. and click on the nav’ button, water valve.

Wow, nice ship. That itchy sensation you feel is me picking your brains, thanks for the link! Any vids of unsuspecting daysail crew being lashed up the ratlines to reef?

Re: Shore water supply safeguard

Nope! Don't need 'em. I can reef every sail myself from the cockpit, including the fore course. Read more and you will see how.

Re: Shore water supply safeguard

Those over-the-top roller cleats are neat. I guess the friction loss isn't so bad else you wouldn't have built it that way.
