There are many systems we use on a modern
boat which are inherently risky, like
air conditioning, which pumps sea
water inside the
boat. Also
shore power, sometimes through very dodgy connections.
Rather than not using these amenities I prefer to try to minimize the risk.
I believe I have done this with our
dock water supply, which didn’t have any safeguards against an internal pipe failure, which has been known to sink boats.
I’ve written a page on my website about how I installed a automatic fail-safe valve, which might be of interest to anyone without safeguard—other than remembering to switch the faucet off when leaving the boat.
