Series linking blue reliance water jugs for water tank

I am trying to design a water tank. Any ideas about linking the blue water jugs together. Would this work?

They have a vent port and just one other 2 inch or so threaded port where a spigot sits now.

Could i use the one port for both the fill and the outlet with a tee fitting?

Trying to avoid a $200 tank.

How about glueing up 4 or 6 inch pvc for a tank too?

Any ideas? Thanks
Christian

Fine for a day trip, but insufficiently strong or thick enough for a boat.

Fab up a cardboard tank in an available space with good opportunities for tie-downs and supports, and have it made in HDPE.

Will the hdpe tank cost over 200? I would like about 40 gallons.

I guess that depends on whether you or someone else makes it, how many angles are required and how complicated you need to make the plumbing.

You'll have to ask locally.

Another option is to look at the Ronco and Tempo companies to see if your dimensions match a tank they already make. Because the consequences of failure are severe, beyond jugs lashed to the mast, I don't advocate a DIY approach on tankage, unless you are a fabrication wizard.

You may also consider two 20 gallon tanks for trim and ease of installation, although that doubles up the plumbing. If you get one tank contaminated or dirty, you aren't stuck with your mouth pointing up, waiting for rain.

It's really limited to your own needs.
