Re: Sealant for NPT fittings?

Charlie, I imagine that all of the products recommended work well as thread sealants except maybe 4200. I'm also not a big fan of teflon tape but I've used it. I like Leak Lock because it works with just about everything so I only need to keep one sealant handy.

I like the teflon paste also. easier than wrapping the teflon tape while you are standing on your head.

Funny. I put tape on in mere seconds but need a 1 hour cleanup after using the paste

Re: Sealant for NPT fittings?

yeah, once you get the proper rotation thing down with tape it's not too bad.. and you're right about the teflon paste mess... once you put it on and tighten it up "walk away buddy!" Witht he huge variation in fitting tolerances, I find the tape a pain sometimes. How many wraps is the question... some fittings you cant put much on be cause they are too tight to get a good amount of threads buried, others are sloppy and need about 6 wraps of tape! I find myself using tape on about 3/8 diameter and down and goop on the larger ones...
