Re: Sanitation redesign

Ok just found a much better drawing from marineparts.com I can get this with minimal investment and have a reliable simple legal system. I would have liked the direct overboard option but I can live without it. I know where everything needs to go now. Iíll look for an odd shaped tank to try and get my volume up a bit and make the hose runs as efficient as possible to reduce pumping time and water usage. Boom done...

P.s. this was tonightís dinner (really it was) feeling like I need the head already.

Re: Sanitation redesign

Where did you see a vent line that wasn't on top of the tank?

I've seen many a vent fitting on the end of a tank at the top of it. In fact, that's where all of them are on all the off-the-shelf tanks that already have "standard" fittings installed.

the fancy 'T' fitting was just me thinking about a solution for tanks with single vent line outlets.

Air would only travel across the top of the tee, would never go through the tank.

A single 1" vent line should be all that's needed.

ďAir would only travel across the top of the tee, would never go through the tank.Ē

With all due respect and I do appreciate the help you provide both to everyone else and myself. But you should take a closer look at the drawing.

If I have time (Iím fast running out) Iím will fabricate the parts and test them with a manometer and post the results, positive or negative.

Best Regards Steven

Re: Sanitation redesign

Just closing the loop... the gravity system that I mentioned earlier has been working perfectly over the last two months. Because of a screw up I ended up with a three gallon tank instead of the five gallon planned. So yes shock horror it is small but I sail a lot so itís working fine. There is a single 5/8Ē vent with nothing fancy just a straight a shot to the hull as I could manage... actually not very straight.

Simple, cheap, works...!

Regards Steven
