Replacing Vented Loop

have to replace a vented loop located in very small space, can barely get two hands in to work. Anybody got any secrets on how best to take off the waste hoses?
Thanks for any help.

Re: replacing vented loop

If you don't want to replace the hoses, just the vent, disconnect the hoses at the other ends then pull out the vent and hose to the point you can work on it. I often use a large channel-locs to break the hose loose from the barbs on the vent. Connect the new vent and push everything back in place.
If you are replacing the hoses and vent then just use a large set of pruning shears to cut the hoses.

Hose Pick. You can get different sizes and angles. A cheap one is O.K. if you are only going to use it occasionally.

Thanks, that hose pick might work, I can make one from an old screw driver.

Re: Replacing Vented Loop

Boiling hot water will soften the hose.
Also if the hose has an internal coil, metal or plastic, twist the hose as thought you'd be screwing the coil on. This will expand the I.D. of the hose and aid removal

Re: Replacing Vented Loop

If you can get two hands on it you are doing good! I would suggest using a heat gun to warm the hose. Some of the other suggestions are good as well. Can you just replace the vent valve instead of the whole loop? It is often easier to just unscrew the vent fitting rather than take the whole thing out. Good luck

Re: Replacing Vented Loop

Thanks for the hints, I used heat gun and hose pick, lots of grunts and scraped knuckles and a few choice words but finally got it off.

Re: Replacing Vented Loop

This is too late to help now but if the hoses are still good, you could have just replaced the vent at the top of the loop instead of the whole loop.
