Just kidding, I think most or many of us have called them hot water heaters at one time or another, and then been chided by someone for saying it. It is one of the hazards of a common language with many dialects and even more idioms. What is the well known quote from Churchill about England
and the US? Was it two nations divided by a common language? Technically, you connect your garden hose, or hose pipe, to a bib, but who ever calls it that?
