Referral Needed (partial propane refit in Nassau)

We are trying to meet a survey recommendation with respect to our propane system, so we can obtain insurance for our boat (HR352)



Can someone please recommend a good propane system installer or technician in Nassau, Bahamas?

As I am doing the delivery, I will chime in.

The HR 352 tanks are in the anchor locker and do not have a solenoid. I know ABYC requires the solenoid, and a downward vent in the locker space. Does ABYC have a regulation that requires the tanks to come out of the the anchor locker??

YES!
The Locker must be above the waterline, top loading with a tight fitting gasketed lid that opens to the atmosphere, be vapor tight to the interior of the vessel (all apertures to be sealed), and must be used for no other purpose.
Per ABYC A-01-1.12
LOCATION AND Installation CYLINDER AND CONNECTED DEVICES

Including 1.12.5 Lockers shall not be used for storage of any other equipment.

HR are generally not considered junk, so it might be useful to ask HR what standards their propane installation conform to. Since they are not in America I'm thinking "ABYC" are irrelevant to them.

Then ask your insurer "Our highly regarded builder made the installation conforming to...Considering that this is not a US-built boat, would that suffice?"

ABYC is not to my knowledge regulatory in any way.
However the only relevance is what will the Insurence company accept?
Me, I’d try disconnecting and or removing the tanks until the boat gets home wherever that is and then refit, surely if the system’s tanks are removed or the system rendered inoperative they would allow that?
I’ve not been to Nassau, but the rest of the Bahamas from what I have seen pretty much don’t have anything much at all.
Even basic parts are non-existent, and anything you import is subject to a 45% import tax over and above the cost of having it flown in.

I’m in Georgetown with hundreds of other boats, and near as I can tell pretty much non existent marine supplies, I don’t know how people that don’t carry healthy spares get by.

It would seem that if someone opened a West Marine type of store that they would get rich. I know these hundreds of boats need “stuff”
