Reefer Died, Need Help

I have a Adler Barb. reefer system with single compressor and evaporator. Worked fine for 4 months then the system stopped cooling. The compressor and fan work fine (by the sounds of it) but no cooling. I listen to the evaporator and hear a gurgling/hissing sound. Am I out of coolant? How do I test if I am out? I am in Chile and struggling with the lingo but need to fix this before I head to Tahiti.
Thanks in advance,
Pete

I repaired one of these, same symptoms, the compressor was one of the variable speed types, the control board had locked it into low speed. while this would work well if the box never had a heat load, it wasn't spinning fast enough to keep the box cold.

You may have a leak. You can get someone to reload it and use a sniffer to find the leak and be good as new. It looks like a BarBQue lighter and can sense gases at very low levels. You wouldn't want to buy one. Dometic will honer warranty work so find an authorized dealer to do the work. If it is a fault of manufacturing they will pay. If the leak can be fixed and it was an install issue a few hundred will reload and pay the service call.

what do the lines connected to the compressor feel like? is one warmer than the other? Be careful as it could be very hot! where the smaller line enters the evaporator is it at all cold?
