When doing this kind of job you really have to look at your intended use for the boat. Weekend warrior , not to worry to much . Off shore world cruising , do the job right , do the job once !

Keep us posted

Is this space big enough for the mechanicals?

Re: Recommendations for building spill over freezer/reeder box?

The basic measurements of the base plate are 10 X 12 Inches, from your drawing I could shift things around a bit and make it fit . .

Ok just went out into the shop . Yes I can make it fit for you , I will make the base plate with an angle and place the receiver drier beside the condenser. No problem .

This should help .

As for air flow , just put a 4" hole in the floor inside that compartment and have a vent hole at the top . You don't need a fan these units don't make much heat .

Regards John.

Well I had to start over from scratch as I couldn't get the glass to release from mold and destroyed the chase in the process[emoji30]
I decided just to build in place even though I've been warned that Aerogel Space Loft is very dusty.
Here's the new space and chase before insulating.

Looks great . Your going about it the right way . If you want to be happy with any marine refrigeration system the box you put it in is a key factor. The numbers on my website are accurate , all my tests are done giving the ambient temps, size and R value of the box and size of plate . You can expect similar results if this is duplicated in a boat.

Regards John.

Fridge project got put on the back burner as more pressing projects took priority. I hope to finish the fridge this summer. I'd love to see your photos; post them here.
